Minister Musasizi Urgues Parliament to Back Domestic Revenue Drive for Economic Development

Henry Musasizi, has called on Parliament to partner with government in mobilizing domestic revenue to finance Ugandas development ambitions. Speaking at the URA engagement with Committees of Parliament, Musasizi said Ugandas aspirations for better infrastructure, social services, industrialization and development of oil, gas and mineral resources must be matched with the capacity to pay for them. Ugandas development ambitions are substantial. But we must be able to pay for the development we want. That is why domestic revenue mobilization is fundamental to Ugandas economic independence, he said.

This reality is important in assessing the Bank of Ugandas decision to introduce new over-the-counter cash withdrawal limits from 1 January 2027.
